I just wanted to see if I played a brilliant move.

I love the brilliant move feature on chess.com. Seeing that little !! after a game makes me happy. But I didn’t want to pay just for that.

So I looked for a free site that could do it. I tried a few, but couldn’t find one I liked enough. So I built mewchess.

It’s for casual players who want to check their games and see if they played something cool. You don’t need an account, and you don’t need to pay.

Does it work exactly like chess.com?

No. I don’t know their algorithm. I’ve built my own and compared the results with chess.com across lots of games.

They won’t always agree. I’m still working on it, and I’ll keep making changes as I find things that could be better.

If a move gets marked brilliant and feels wrong, or a brilliant move gets missed, email the game to [email protected]. That gives me something to check.
